Prince Andy and the Misfits, Shadow Man–Audio Book

I’m really excited about the audio book for Prince Andy and the Misfits, Shadow Man. Tate Publishing gave me the option of either creating my websites for me or making an audio book. Troy and I talked it over and decided that we could make the website, blog and book trailer. However, we didn’t have the technology to create an audio book.  There are two ways you can purchase the audio book.  When you buy the book, it comes with a code on the very last page that you type in at Tate’s website and you download the audio for free. You can burn it to a CD, leave it on your computer to listen to, or put it on your I-Pod.  Some people don’t want to buy the book, so Tate Publishing is creating audio CD’s for separate purchase as well.  It will be an abridged version. (I wasn’t very happy about the abridged version, because I had to cut so much out of my book. I nearly cried a few times while doing this process. I felt like I was killing my child. Not to mention it is a lot of work!!!) Hope you enjoy the audio portion.

Today I had a great surprise.  I opened my email and there was a post from Sean Kilgore.  He is the person from Tate Publishing who is going to narrate my book.  He sent me a sample reading of the prologue.  IT WAS SOOOO COOOOL!!!!!!! Such an exciting moment for me and my family.  We were all gathered around listening to the audio.  The audio book will be done by the end of this month.  Can’t wait to hold that in my hands.  God is so good to me.

Well, I received the audio book this past Friday for editing.  It sounds so amazing.  I can’t tell you what a thrill it is to hear my work come to life.  To hear the words, “Copyright, by Karen Gammons, 2010.”   So awesome!

Tonight, I came home from a meeting and found Randi and Haylee huddled around the computer listening t0 my book.  Both of them had smiles on their faces.  Too cute!! Tomorrow I will sit at the computer after school is over and begin the work. Then when it is over, I can truly say, that my child is done and ready for the world.  I just hope she is well received.

Well, last night I finished the edits on the audio book.  It took all week to do this process and it was very tiring.  I worked about five hours a day on it, and I would get up from the computer feeling like I had run a marathon.  By the end of the week, my brain felt like mush.  So glad that it’s over.  I told Troy that I may not do the audio book for Epidemic in the Dark Lands. Of course he told me that I was crazy if I didn’t.  He loved hearing my book come to life.

Sean Kilgore from Tate Publishing did the narrating for Shadow Man.  He did such an AWESOME job!!!  I am very pleased with the voices of my dragons.  I have characters in book 2, that I think he could do very well.  I am so glad I picked Sean.  I can’t wait to hear the reaction from everyone after they listen to it.

I sent the audio edits back to Sean yesterday. He had them for about 5 minutes and then he sent them right back. UGH!!! I messed up. If there was a mistake in the sentence, I was supposed to copy the full sentence to the correction form.  I only copied the part that was messed up.  It helps to read. I’m always preaching to my children to read something thoroughly, before jumping in with both feet.  Oh well,  like I said, I’m crazy!!!!

So tomorrow, I will try to fix all of my mistakes.  The roofers are coming to put a new roof on our house, and I imagine it’s going to be very noisy around here. I hope I can concentrate.  The kids are already trying to get out of school tomorrow with the excuse that they won’t be able to concentrate. We will see how it goes.  I can’t wait till this is all over. I still haven’t finished book 2, Epidemic in the Dark Lands. That is going to be top priority next week.

To all my readers, have a good day.

I listened to a portion of my audio book the other day. I have mixed feelings.  Sean did not do as I asked.  I asked him to redo the prologue, because it had voice issues.  He ignored my wishes.  I’m trying to be nice about this.  I was raised, that if you are going to do something, do it right! It reflects on you and what you are doing.  Tate Publishing needs to consider this.  If their work is shabby, it will reflect on me and them as well.  I just had to blog this. I’m now off my soap box.

Have a nice day, everyone.
